I began painting this collection as abstracts, focusing on a color palette more than a subject matter.
I particularly like the transparent layers and the loose brushstrokes. I'm going back to Italy for a wedding this summer, and this trip must have been in my head. As these paintings evolved, they became slightly less abstract and more Italian landscapes.
So, I continued to paint and thought about the Amalfi coast, the Italian Riviera, and many other beautiful places along the coast - the colors, the food, the wine, the history, the architecture, and the Italian people.
Oh, and the Aperol Spritz.
