'Healing Waters' is a collection of soothing coastal landscapes.
The healing power of water. The pace slows, sluggish from the heavy, humid air. Our bodies cry out for the refreshing coolness of the beach.
When I began painting this collection, I thought of teal, aqua, and light colors. I chose to leave the water light, wanting to maintain the open and light feel of the paintings. I focused on high key, high contrast, and line. I added flat shapes of color and lines, contrasting with painterly brushstrokes.
Well, I started painting this little collection. I envisioned a spa in cool colors. Blues and greens. Well, somewhere along the way, I intuitively added some brights. And kept going. It still feels like a spa vacation, but more of a girls' trip or a girls' day at a fancy coastal spa. Or it could just be a day spent outside near the water.
